Holy week

During Holy Week we recall the dramatic events of the last week of Jesus’ life. After he entered the great ancient city of Jerusalem on the back of a donkey to the adulation of the crowds who proclaim him the Messiah, he confronted the corruption of the religious authorities by driving the money changers out of the Temple. This act of resistance ultimately led to his arrest, torture, crucifixion, and death. As we recount this story we are reminded that our salvation is anchored in the suffering, death, and resurrection of Jesus. Our faith is strengthened in the knowledge that Jesus conquered death itself and so we have nothing to fear.
